In a severe blow for New Zealand, skipper Kane Williamson will miss the second Test match against England after testing positive for Covid-19.

Williamson experienced minor symptoms and undertook the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) before being found to be positive for Covid-19. The 31-year old Kiwi has now gone into 5-day isolation. The other members of the team have returned negative tests.

Tom Latham will lead the team in Williamson's absence while Hamish Rutherford, who is already in England playing county cricket joins the squad as Williamson’s replacement.

Notably, New Zealand lost the first match of the 3 matches Test series against England.
