Struggling with their Playing XI, Kolkata Knight Riders who have lost 5 matches back-to-back are currently languishing at the 8th spot in the IPL points table. The team has used 19 players in 9 games. Addressing the issues with the team's combination, Skipper Shreyas Iyer said that a lot of chopping and changing is happening. He admitted that it has been difficult to get that right combination, with players injured, not helping at all.

From trying out Ajinkya Rahane and Venkatesh Iyer, Aaron Finch and Sunil Narine to Sunil Narine and Sam Billings, the team has tried almost all possible combinations at the top, but nothing seems to be working out for them. Kolkata who began the 15th edition with a bang were defeated in their previous game against Delhi Capitals by 4 wickets. With chances fading to qualify for play-offs, Kolkata's skipper urged his players to play fearless cricket. Only 5 league matches are remaining for KKR who have won just 3 matches in 9 so far.
