It raised many eyebrows when Ruturaj Gaikwad didn't open the batting for India in the 1st T20I vs Ireland. Moreover, when he didn't bat at all despite 3 Indian batters getting out, speculations of what was wrong started doing the rounds on social media.

Some even speculated that he might be flying to England as a cover for Rohit Sharma who is down with Covid-19. However, Hardik Pandya put all those rumours to rest after the game.

He revealed that Ruturaj had a calf niggle. Since a player's health is of utmost importance to him, Hardik didn't want to take any risk. So, everyone went one place up.
