Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow's lethal batting has put the Jasprit Bumrah-led Indian side in a perilous situation in the rescheduled final Test of the 5-match Test series between India and England.
India's batting coach Vikram Rathour, however, put the blame on the mediocre performance of the Indian batters in the 2nd innings as India face the prospect of losing another game at Edgbaston.
At the beginning of Day 4, the Men in Blue were ahead by 257 runs. India though ceded their advantage when they lost their final 6 wickets for just 55 runs, giving England a 378-run target.
Although India have never surrendered a chase that big in Tests before, the hosts are currently in the driver’s seat.
Rathour feels the team should have done better in the third innings. The coach was disappointed that India had a 'pretty ordinary day' and said that the 'the plans didn’t work out'

'We were ahead in the game, we were in a position where we could have batted them out of the game. Unfortunately that did not happen, a lot of people got starts but couldn't convert, we were expecting ne of them to play a big knock and have a big partnership, unfortunately it did not happen like that', he said in the post match presentation.
