Despite a brilliant century from Jonny Bairstow, India hold a commanding position in the rescheduled fifth Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Sunday.

At stumps on Day 3, India were 125-3, leading by 257 runs, with Cheteshwar Pujara and Rishabh Pant at the crease.

In the second innings, James Anderson gave England an early breakthrough with the wicket of Shubman Gill who once again got out cheaply. Hanuma Vihari and Cheteshwar Pujara then stitched a cautious 39-run stand before the former was dismissed by Stuart Broad.

Virat Kohli came out and smashed four glorious boundaries before captain Ben Stokes ended his stay for 20.

Meanwhile, Pujara scored a patient fifty from one end, and Rishabh Pant came out and played his shots from the word go.

Earlier in the day, Bairstow and Stokes stitched a 66-run stand before Shardul Thakur sent the English captain back to the pavilion for 25 runs. Meanwhile, Bairstow continued his insane run with bat, notching up yet another hundred.

But Mohammed Shami managed to get the big fish Bairstow with a hostile spell in the afternoon session. Siraj finished with 4 wickets and did not allow the English tail to wag. India took a sizeable 132-run first-innings lead with England being bundled out for 258.
