With Rohit Sharma isolating due to Covid-19 and KL Rahul ruled out of the England Test, vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah may have to step in as captain of Team India.

If that happens, he will be the first fast bowler in 35 years to lead an Indian side in whites. The last man to do so was legendary Kapil Dev. Interestingly, Bumrah was delighted when he was made the vice-captain of the Indian ODI side before the series vs South Africa and had then said that If given an opportunity, he would be honoured to lead India as well. 'I don’t think any player would say no. There’s no bigger feeling than that,' added the fast bowler.

With the BCCI stating that Rohit Sharma is down with Covid-19, it has now cast dark clouds over his participation the much-anticipated 5th Test in Birmingham Test starting July 1.
