Mohammed Siraj leaves WI tour: BCCI clarifies why Indian pacer returned home before IND vs WI ODI series

July 27, the date when India was supposed to start its 3-match ODI series vs West Indies, the BCCI made a last-minute change in the squad.

Team India pacer Mohammed Siraj left the Caribbean and flew back to India with the rest of the Test specialists including R Ashwin, KS Bharat, Ajinkya Rahane and Navdeep Saini.

The Indian board later stated that the fast bowler was released from Team India’s ODI squad as he complained of a sore ankle. Hence, the BCCI medical team advised him to rest as a precautionary measure.

After the Windies series, India will begin its Asia Cup campaign and will then shift focus to the ODI World Cup in India.
