Having already lost the ODI series, India was expected to finish on a high but the Men in Blue were handed a 4-run loss in the 3rd ODI. South Africa thus inflicted a 3-0 whitewash over the visitors.
Opting to bowl first, India bowled out the hosts for 287 despite Quinton de Kock's hundred. Team changes worked in India's favour as Deepak Chahar took 2 wickets in the beginning and Prasidh Krishna finished off with 3 scalps.
India's run chase began on a shaku note as KL Rahul fell for just 9. But Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli put together a 98-run stand. Both fell after respective half-centuries as India found themselves at 223/7. Chahar then turned the tide against South Africa with a fiery 34-ball-54. But his super knock couldn't take India over the finish line as they were bowled out for 283.
