IND vs AUS: Ravindra Jadeja fined 25 percent match fee, given one demerit point by ICC

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was fined 25 percent of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct.

Jadeja was fined for applying pain relief cream on his swollen finger without taking permission from the on-field umpires on day 1 of the Nagpur Test. The incident which was caught on camera caused an uproar in Australian media, with many wondering if it amounted to ball tampering.

According to the ICC statement, Jadeja admitted to the offence and accepted the sanctions proposed by match referee Andy Pycroft.

Jadeja, who was adjudged the Player of the Match for his all-round brilliance with both bat and ball, was given a demerit point as well for the incident.
