The Australian team's plan to use the Nagpur pitch for practice after their defeat in the first Test didn’t quite work out.

According to a Cricket Australia report, the visitors wanted to use the 4th day Nagpur pitch for practice on a spin-friendly surface but unfortunately for the Aussies, the groundstaff had already watered the surface soon after the match ended.

“A member of the VCA Stadium groundstaff was observed hosing down the pitch after the Australians left the VCA Stadium on Saturday afternoon not long after India had wrapped up an innings victory inside three days,” said Cricket Australia.

While Australia had made the request to Vidarbha Cricket Association right after the completion of the match on day 3, it appears the groundstaff never got the memo.
