Remember when Ashwin Mankaded Jos Buttler in the IPL and many former cricketers criticized the act by calling it unfair? Well, it will no longer be unfair to run out the non-striker while on a delivery stride as per the new rules by the Marylebone Cricket Club.

Apart from that, the MCC has made a number of changes to the laws of the game that also includes a permanent ban on the use of saliva to shine the ball. In a statement, MCC explained that it will also remove any grey areas of fielders eating sugary sweets to alter their saliva to apply to the ball. 'Using saliva will be treated the same way as any other unfair method of changing the condition of the ball', the statement added.

Apart from that, when a batter gets caught, the player who comes in next will start at the striker’s end unless it is the end of an over. Earlier, if the batters crossed before the catch was taken then the new player would go to the non-strikers’ end.

It is now up to the International Cricket Council and national cricket associations to accept these changes. Normally, most suggestions made by the MCC are adopted without change or protest.
