Pakistan pacer Wahab Riaz has been named as the caretaker Sports Minister of Pakistan's Punjab province.

Riaz has entered politics while he continues to play cricket actively. The left-arm bowler is currently playing in the Bangladesh Premier League and will take oath after he returns to Pakistan.

The 37-year-old has been retained by Peshawar Zalmi for this year’s Pakistan Super League and despite his appointment as the Sports Minister, he is expected to fulfill his commitment to the Zalmi side. He last represented Pakistan in 2020.
