BCCI on Monday announced India's 15-member squad for the Commonwealth Games 2022. Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the side in the Games starting July 29 in Birmingham. Opener Smriti Mandhana was named as her deputy.

India is in Group A with Australia, Barbados, and Pakistan and will open its campaign on July 29 vs T20 World champions Australia. Sri Lanka, England, New Zealand, and South Africa are placed in Group B. The top two teams from the respective pools will progress to the semi-finals.

Interestingly, this is the first time that a women's tournament will be played at the CWG and will be played in a T20 format. A men's ODI tournament was played at the 1998 Kuala Lumpur Commonwealth Games.
