Virat Kohli & Bhuvneshwar Kumar produced their best-ever T20I performances as India thumped Afghanistan by 101 runs in the Asia Cup.

The Indian team, who were playing a dead rubber with the Blue Tigers, finished their tournament with a consolation victory.

The biggest positive that came from the game was Virat Kohli, who recorded his 71st international ton, a landmark that had eluded him for close to 3 years.

His sensational hundred, his first in T20Is, was pure class - a reminder of why he's considered one of the greatest ever.

With Rohit Sharma being rested, Kohli put together a 119-run stand with stand-in captain KL Rahul for the opening wicket. The 33-year-old, who mixed caution with aggression perfectly at first, finished with an unbeaten 122 off 61 balls, helping India post a mammoth 212 on the board.

In reply, Afghanistan were hit by the Bhuvi storm. The Indian pacer took 4 wickets in just his first 2 overs to leave Afghanistan reeling at 9/4 and the game was over there and then.

While Ibrahim Zadran did score 64 off 49, Bhuvneshwar Kumar finished with figures of 5/4, his best in the shortest format to restrict Afghanistan to just 111.

India may not have qualified for the final, but at least they ended their tournament with a much-needed win.
