While Bhanuka Rajapaksa did raise hopes of a respectable total, Sri Lanka were always behind the eight ball. His 38, along with Chamika Karunaratne's 31 got Sri Lanka over the 100-run mark.

In reply, the Afghan openers made lightwork of the run-chase. Rahmanullah Gurbaz's 18-ball 40 and Hazratullah Zazai's unbeaten 37 helped Afghanistan coast to victory in just 10.1 overs, the second-fastest run-chase against the Lankans in T20Is.
