Ashes 2023: Steve Smith becomes second fastest to complete 9000 Test runs

The prolific Australian batter Steve Smith achieved yet another Test feat as he collected 9000 runs in the longest format of the game on the first day of the 2nd Test against England at Lord's.

With this, he also became the 2nd quickest batter to breach the mark after Kumar Sangakkara who did it in just 172 innings. He did it in 174 innings. 

He is also only the 4th Australian batter ever to get to 9000 Test runs after Ricky Ponting, Allan Border and Steve Waugh.
