In a bizarre decision, Ajaz Patel has been dropped from New Zealand's squad that take on Bangladesh in a 2-match Test series starting January 1.

Ajaz recently had a memorable tour of India in December where the left-arm orthodox bowler made history by taking all 10 wickets in an innings in the second Test in Mumbai. However, he failed to find a place in the very next Test series. All-rounder Rachin Ravindra is the only spinner in the 13-man squad.

Moreover, Tom Latham will lead the side in the absence of the injured Kane Williamson.
