Special Pulitzer honour for teen who filmed George Floyd murder

The Pulitzer Prizes awarded a special citation to Darnella Frazier, the teen who filmed the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis last year. Floyd, a black man was killed by a white police officer who pinned him to the ground with his knee on Floyd's neck. The killing triggered widespread anti-racism protests across the US.

The Star Tribune of Minneapolis won the breaking news award for its reporting following Floyd’s killing.

The New York Times won the public service award on Friday for its coverage of the coronavirus pandemic.
