Shimla landslide: dramatic building collapse on camera, a recall to 2013 Kedarnath flood horror

A landslide triggered by excessive rains in recent weeks led to the collapse of a multi-storey building in Shimla on Thursday.

According to senior officials, no loss of life has been reported as the building was vacated in time.

A dramatic video of the building crashing like a pack of cards is making rounds of social media.

The police, administration and fire brigade were already on the spot when the building came down.

However, the unabated rains in the hilly terrain over the past few months has massively triggered landslides leading to loss of life and property.

These incidents bring an unpleasant reminder of the horrific flash floods of Kedarnath in 2013 which killed thousands of people, destroyed the lives of many and washed away buildings, houses, offices in a flash.
