India's largest vaccine manufacturer Serum comes forward to clarify as it faces backlash on India paying the highest price for the Covishield vaccines.

Serum in a statement released on Saturday said, that the comparison of global prices to Indian prices was inaccurate as the global vaccines were procured on advance funding.

Serum also reassured  that only a limited portion of it's total supply will be sold at Rs 600/dose as majority will be supplied at the govt procurement price of Rs 400/dose which as it states is much lower than any covid treatment plan in any health centre.

Adar Ponawalla urged the market to opened up further for other vaccines from around the world to increase the vaccination pace.
