Schools, colleges, spas and entertainment parks closed in Bengal as Covid cases surge

All schools, colleges, universities, spas, salons, beauty parlours, zoos, and entertainment parks will be closed in West Bengal from Monday, the state govt announced as it tries to curb the surge in novel coronavirus cases. 

All government and private offices will operate at 50% capacity and all administrative meetings are to be conducted virtually. 

Only essential services will be permitted from 10 am to 5 pm and local trains will operate with 50% capacity till 7 pm from Monday.

Shopping malls, market complexes, cinema halls, restaurants and bars can function with 50% capacity till 10pm. 

Not more than 50 people allowed for social gatherings, weddings, religious events and cultural gatherings. 

Not more than 20 people allowed for funeral, burial or last rites. 

West Bengal reported 4,512 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, which takes its active caseload to 13,300 - the third-highest in the country after Maharashtra and Kerala.
