According to a Wall Street Journal report, Video-streaming device maker Roku is advance talks to buy Quibi's content catalogue as the mobile-first streaming service plans on shutting shop. Quibi, the nearly $2 billion start-up specialised in original shows with short five to ten-minute-long chapters. It was launched on April 6, 2020, amid great fanfare by veteran Hollywood producer Jeffrey Katzenberg and seasoned tech executive Meg Whitman. It aimed to revolutionise the way people consume entertainment, but decided to wind down operations barely six months after launch.
