Rahul Gandhi's Twitter account has been temporarily suspended, the Congress party claimed on Saturday. The party informed that due process is being followed to restore the account.

The Congress further said that until Rahul’s account is restored he will stay connected ‘through his other social media platforms and continue to raise his voice for the people and fight for their cause’.

Earlier in the day, Twitter took down Rahul Gandhi’s tweet that revealed the identity of the relatives of a minor who was raped and murdered. The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights had asked the Delhi Police and the microblogging site to take action over Gandhi posting the photo of the girl's family. The microblogging website stated the said tweet violated its rules.

However, it is not clear whether Rahul's account has been suspended due to the controversial tweet or for some other reason.
