Raging Covid-19: Yogi govt to set up help desk for cows in UP

Amid the ongoing Covid crisis, Yogi Adityanath government has issued directives for setting up help desks for protection of cows in every district of Uttar Pradesh.

The cow shelters or gaushalas have been directed to strictly follow the Covid guidelines. Medical equipment such as oximeters and thermal scanners for cows and animals will be made available for the shelters.

According to the govt’s data, there are over 5,268 cow protection centres in the state with as many as 5,73,417 cattle.

The government is also working on increasing the existing capacity of the shelters to deal with stray cattle. Under the Mukhya Mantri Besahara Gau-Vansh Sahbhagita Yojana, farmers taking care of stray cattle are being given financial assistance of ₹900 per month.
