In a show of strength by the Navjot Singh Sidhu camp, at least 40 Congress MLAs along with Sidhu reached the Golden temple in Amritsar in a luxury bus.

Meanwhile, the suspense over a possible truce between Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and newly-appointed state Congress chief, Navjot Singh Sidhu, have deepened further with both leaders sticking to their stance.

The Navjot Singh Sidhu camp has rejected Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh’s demand for a public apology from Sidhu, saying the chief minister should instead shed his ego and apologise to the public for not fulfilling his electoral promises.

Sidhu assumed the charge of the Punjab unit chief on Sunday. He returned to a hero’s welcome in Amritsar, with the party rank and file lining up with garlands, banners, flags and bouquets at Golden Gate.
