CoWin to go global today, 50 countries want Indian Covid platform

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today address the CoWIN Global Conclave, as India will offer the Covid vaccination platform CoWIN to other countries to run their own Covid-19 inoculation drives.

About 50 countries, including Canada, Mexico, Nigeria, Panama and Uganda, have shown interest in adopting CoWIN, Dr R S Sharma, the CEO of the National Health Authority, had said recently. India is ready to share the open-source software of the public good platfrom for free.

PM Modi has directed officials to create an open-source version of the platform and give it to any country that wants it for free, Sharma had said, reports news agency PTI.

The virtual meet will start at 3pm and will see participation from health and technology experts representing countries across the world.
