PM Narendra Modi is most followed politician on Twitter with 70 mn followers

Along with being the leader of the largest democracy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is now one of the most followed on Twitter. 

Since 2009, when he first joined the microblogging platform, Modi has amassed over 70 million followers. Coincidentally, Kim Kardashian also shares that accolade with our prime minister.

Modi is very active on Twitter and regularly uses the tweets his views on the country’s development, highlighting new achievements and promoting welfare programmes carried out by his government.

After Modi, Pope Francis is the world leader with the highest number of followers on the site at 53 million.
