Over 40 lakh children vaccinated on first day: Health minister

Over 40 lakh children were vaccinated on first day of the inoculation drive for those in the age group of 15-18 years, Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted. 

Apart from hospitals and health centres, schools and other educational institutions were also used as vaccination centres. 

Anyone born in 2007 or before is eligible for vaccination in this phase. Registrations from the same had started on January 1.

Children in this age group are only being administered Covaxin for vaccination. 

The decision to roll out vaccination for teens aged 15-18 was announced by the Prime Minister on December 24
