At least 304 people have been killed and 1800 injured after a 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck Western Haiti on Saturday, just days before a tropical storm is expected to make landfall.

Prime Minister Ariel Henry said he was mobilising all available government resources to help victims in the affected areas and further declared a month-long state of emergency.

According to the US Geological Survey, the epicentre of the quake was about 125 kilometres west of the capital of Port-au-Prince. Widespread damage has been reported due to the earthquake.
