OnePlus has responded to a controversy surrounding its OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro smartphones.
A recent investigation found that both phones limit performance for some popular apps, while letting others like benchmarks and games use full power.
This optimisation happens at the kernel level, and is out of control of the user.

OnePlus has said in a statement it received reports of overheating and low battery life upon the phones’ launch, and it made this change to match the app’s processor requirements with the most appropriate power.
According to OnePlus, this method provides a smooth experience while reducing power consumption.
