The Delhi High Court on Saturday said that if any official at the central, state or local administration was obstructing in the picking up or supply of oxygen, then the court "will hang that man". The observation by the High Court bench came during hearing of a plea by Maharaja Agrasen Hospital over shortage of oxygen for seriously-ill covid patients.
During the proceeding, the Court pulled up the Delhi govt asking, if allocation was done 3 days back, why didn’t they exercise options to look for tankers? Taking a swipe at Arvind Kejriwal, the court said the political head has himself been an administrative officer, he knows how it works. The court went on to say, the problem is the Delhi govt thinks allocation is done so everything will be served on a platter to the authorities, but that’s not how it works.
The court said what govt officials are calling a Covid crisis or wave is actually a Covid tsunami. The Delhi High Court also asked the Centre about its plan to reduce Covid-19 deaths when the virus peak hits in mid-May. The Court said, some people will eventually die, it's inevitable, but due to bad planning, those who could be saved, we are losing them too.
