Neeraj Chopra, Sumit Antil, Mithali Raj receive Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna award

Olympic medallists Neeraj Chopra, Ravi Kumar Dahiya, and Lovlina Borgohain were among the 12 sportspersons who received the prestigious Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Awards from President Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhawan on Saturday.

Apart from the Olympians, cricketer Mithali Raj, footballer Sunil Chhetri and Hockey players PR Shreejesh and Manpreet Singh were also awarded the Khel Ratna. Sumit Antil and Avani Lekhara who won gold at the Tokyo Paralympics also received the award along with 2 other Paralympians.

Apart from the 12 Khel Ratnas, 35 Arjuna Awards were also given to Sportspersons.

The long list of Khel Ratna and Arjuna Awardees include the Olympians and the Paralympians who won laurels at the Tokyo stage. India won 7 medals at Olympics and 19 at the Paralympics.
