Navjot Singh Sidhu likely to stay in Congress, may head coordination panel

Two days after resigning as Punjab Congress chief, Navjot Singh Sidhu met chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Thursday adding a new twist to the saga. As per reports Sidhu is likely to withdraw his resignation as during the meeting the new CM and Sidhu agreed on a new role for the crickter turned politician. Unnamed sources indicate that Sidhu will be part of a coordination panel that will be set up and consulted before any major decision in the state.

The Punjab CM had called Sidhu for a meeting personally to settle the issue. Charanjit Singh Channi had said on Wednesday that he was not rigid about the appointments and he is ready to discuss any objections that Sidhu might have. 

The Punjab unit of the Congress is in turmoil after Amarinder Singh was removed as the chief minister and its chief Sidhu resigned from his post ahead of the Assembly elections in the state early next year.
