The Madhya Pradesh government on Thursday announced a weekend lockdown in urban areas of the state to check the steep rise in Covid-19 cases. All urban areas in the state will go into a lockdown from 6 pm on Friday till 6 am on Monday.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said "appropriate action" will be taken for cities with rising cases after a crisis meet.
Madhya Pradesh reported over 4,000 fresh coronavirus positive cases on Wednesday, taking the tally of infections to over 3 lakh and 18 thousand.
