Meet Padma Shri Ileana Citaristi, an Italian teaching Odissi dancer

Meet Ileana Citaristi, an Italian born Odissi dancer, who shifted to Odisha in 1979 and has been imparting her knowledge on the dance form to people in the state.

In 2006, she also became the first classical dancer of foreign origin who was conferred the prestigious Padma Shri award.

She founded her own institution called the "Art vision" in 1995 and has been teaching both Odissi and Chhau dances to locals and visiting students.

Since its inception, the institution has organised several unique festivals over the years including the Sangam Festival since 2005.
