Indian Table Tennis star Manika Batra was left out of the Indian squad for the Asian Championships, starting September 28 in Doha. Manika, who came up with an impressive show at the Tokyo Olympics, was not included after she did not attend the mandatory national camp organised by the Table Tennis Federation of India in Sonipat.

TTFI had made it clear that any player not attending the camp will not be considered for selection. Manika had informed the federation that she would like to continue training with her personal coach in Pune. Notably, Manika had alleged national coach Soumaydeep Roy of match fixing, claiming that he had asked her to throw matches during the Olympic qualifiers.
