Dr. Shriram Nene, a cardiothoracic surgeon who regularly shares insights on maintaining heart health, recently posted a video on Instagram recommending the best oils for heart health.

In the video, he highlighted that rice bran oil, groundnut oil, mustard oil, olive oil, and sesame oil are excellent sources of healthy fats and vitamin E.

Rice bran oil: This oil is rich in healthy fats, both polyunsaturated and monounsaturated. These fats can improve your cholesterol levels, potentially lowering your risk of heart disease and type 2 diabetes.

Groundnut oil: Packed with good fats and vitamin E, groundnut oil can help you swap out saturated fats for healthier options. This may contribute to better cholesterol regulation.

Mustard oil: Often used for its heart-healthy properties, mustard oil may help regulate blood pressure, increase good (HDL) cholesterol, and reduce plaque buildup and inflammation in the arteries.

Olive oil: Rich in antioxidants, olive oil may play a role in reducing the risk of chronic diseases affecting your heart and nervous system. These antioxidants combat inflammation and potentially protect your cholesterol from harmful oxidation.

Sesame oil: Boasting a unique blend of omega-3, omega-6, and omega-9 fatty acids, sesame oil is a powerhouse of beneficial nutrients. It's also packed with magnesium, lignans, and vitamin E, all acting as antioxidants. These antioxidants may help prevent plaque buildup in your arteries, potentially contributing to healthy blood pressure levels.
