Most of us start running on the treadmill as soon as we hit the gym. But you must know this before you use a treadmill again.
Even though a treadmill is a great exercising tool which strengthens the calf muscles and burns calories, people in the age group of 55 to 60 might suffer knee and ankle injuries while running on it.
Experts suggest when we run on the ground, the energy flows from the body to the ground, but in case of a treadmill, the flow of energy is from the machine to the leg. With age cartilages get weakened and can be damaged while running on a treadmill.
Therefore, It is recommended to brisk walk on a treadmill rather than running on it as it could aggravate pain and swelling of knees and ankles.
