Actor Nitesh Pandey died of a heart attack in Igatpuri in Mumbai. The actor was just 51 years old. The news has sent shockwaves as it has come at a time when there is a sudden surge in heart attacks among people in their 40s and 50s.
But, the question is, why have the cases of heart attacks been increasing in the recent past?
According to a 2019 report by Harvard Health, 80% of heart attacks take place due to blockages in coronary arteries. Other than this, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (US CDC) said that the high rates of obesity and high blood pressure are the reasons why the incidence of heart disease in people as young as 35-40 years is so common these days. Moreover, unhealthy lifestyle choices are also accountable for the majority of heart disease cases.
