Sattu, also known as roasted gram flour, has cooling effects that regulate body temperature and help keep the stomach cool. Sattu is loaded with essential nutrients like proteins, dietary fibre and calcium. It is a natural energy booster and keeps you feeling fuller for a longer duration. Sattu is also known for its digestive properties and is often consumed in the summer season. 

Recipe for sattu drink

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons sattu (roasted gram flour)
  • 1-2 tablespoons jaggery or sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black salt (kala namak)
  • A pinch of ground ginger (optional)
  • 1-2 cups chilled water
  • Ice cubes (optional)
  • Fresh mint leaves or lemon slices for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  • In a mixing bowl or glass, add the sattu, jaggery or sugar, roasted cumin powder, black salt, and ground ginger (if using).
  • Pour in the chilled water and stir well until all the ingredients are thoroughly combined and the jaggery or sugar is dissolved.
  • Taste the drink and adjust the sweetness or saltiness according to your preference by adding more jaggery, sugar, or black salt if needed.
    If desired, add ice cubes to the drink to make it even more refreshing.
  • Garnish the sattu drink with fresh mint leaves or lemon slices for an extra burst of flavor and presentation.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade sattu drink!
