National Nutrition Week 2022 : National Nutrition Week is observed every year from September 1-7 to raise awareness regarding proper eating habits and Nutrition.
As per the Global Hunger Index Report 2021, India ranks 101 among 116 countries and malnutrition is a major cause of death across the country.
Reports suggest that 14 per cent of the population in India is malnourished. Inadequate food supply, undernutrition and hunger, can lead to ailments and diseases.
The Indian government first introduced this week-long campaign in 1982. The focus of Nutrition Week is to educate people on the importance of nutrition, a healthy lifestyle and a balanced diet.
Therefore, one must acquire the essential nutrients and food for growth and a healthy lifestyle. Nutrients such as carbohydrates, fibers, fats, proteins, minerals and vitamins should all be important parts of our daily diet to maintain our immune system.
