According to the recent survey conducted by The Workforce Institute at UKG on 3,400 people across 10 countries showed that almost 70% of people have more impact on their mental health by their managers as compared to their therapists or doctors.
The study shows that 43 per cent of employees are exhausted, 78 per cent are stressed negatively which impacts their work performance, 71 per cent are stressed at work which negatively affects their personal life, and 62 per cent say it degrades their relationship.
The research also shows that 40 per cent of employees are stressed at work most of the time but rarely talk to their managers or discuss about their mental health with them. It was also found that senior-level managers and leaders also carry the same burden as others.
The managing partner at Workplace Intelligence, Dan Schawbel said My top advice for companies when it comes to mental health-Don’t leave your leaders behind.”
“Sometimes, it’s hard to muster compassion for the C-suite because they make good money, yet many fail to account for all the pressures they’re faced with, including being responsible for the wellbeing of sometimes thousands of employees. We’re all human, and, to lead well, you first need to put your own mask on before helping others.”
