In a relief to Lakshadweep filmmaker Aisha Sultana, who is facing a sedition case, the Kerala High Court on Friday granted her anticipatory bail.

The filmmaker was booked on June 10 under Sedition charges after the BJP Lakshadweep chief C Abdul Khadar Haji accused her of making false claims on the Covid cases on the Islands.

Haji cited a debate on the Malayalam news channel, in which Sultana allegedly called the Union territory’s administrator, Praful Khoda Patel a "bio-weapon" used by the BJP to spread Covid in Lakshadweep.
