Rafael Nadal defeated World No.1 and defending champion Novak Djokovic as he continued his dominance on the clay court. Nadal beat the Serbian 7-5, 1-6 and 6-3 despite going down in the 2nd set. This was the 6th time that the pair fought for the Italian Open title as Nadal nailed his 10th win in the final of the ATP event in Rome. Interestingly, this is Nadal's 459th win on clay in 501 matches. The Spaniard will now target a 14th French Open crown when the claycourt Grand Slam begins on May 30.
