Rafael Nadal defeated World No.1 and defending champion Novak Djokovic as he continued his dominance on the clay court. Nadal beat the Serbian 7-5, 1-6 and 6-3 despite going down in the 2nd set. This was the 6th time that the pair fought for the Italian Open title as Nadal nailed his 10th win in the final of the ATP event in Rome.
