In Triupra to address the party's state leadership, Trinamool Congress' national secretary Abhishek Banerjee had a rocky start with BJP protests.

Banerjee's visit comes days after poll strategist Prashant Kishor's I-PAC team was detained in a hotel by the Agartala police.

The TMC leader's convoy was stopped multiple times on the way to Tripureshwari temple from the Agartala airport by BJP supporters amid 'Go back Abhishek' slogans.

The TMC No 2 tweeted a video of protesters hitting on his convoy and tagged the BJP CM mocking the state of democracy in the BJP ruled region.

TMC posters and banners were also found damaged in various parts of the state. Calling it a shocking display of hooliganism by the Biplab Deb government, Trinamool has said it will lodge its protest on the issue.
