Karnataka: Actor Chetan Kumar files defamation case against state labour minister

Kannada actor Chetan Kumar has filed a case of civil defamation against the state Labour minister Arbail Sivaram Hebbar.

Kumar who has sued him in a city court in Bengaluru has demanded an apology and a compensation of Rs 1.

Kumar has accused Hebbar of using demeaning and offensive language against him. He said that Hebbar is in a position of immense power, and he is misusing his role as a public servant and must be held accountable. 

Kumar is currently named in 2 FIRs over his Tweet, wherein he made a call to 'uproot Brahminism'. The complaints have been registered by the members of Karnataka's Brahmin community.

Condemning the Tweet as a 'publicity stunt', Hebbar had said that his tweet is against the constitution.
