The International Olympic Committee has announced a new set of health safety measures to be followed by the athletes, staff, and volunteers during the medal ceremonies at Tokyo Olympic Games 2020.

This year, athletes will not be allowed to take group photographs on the podium and will have to wear masks during the medal ceremonies. To allow social distancing, additional podium modules will be placed between the gold silver and bronze stands.

IOC President Thomas Bach had earlier said that the athletes will have to wear their medals on their own to protect against the spread of Covid-19.
