Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, has apologised for a bug that caused certain stories and highlights to be deleted earlier this week.
The bug had caused widespread backlash from activists, as it affected posts which part of an awareness campaign about missing Indigenous women.
Activists had questioned whether Instagram was targeting and removing posts using the specific hashtag, but Mosseri clarified that the bug wasn’t related to the content of a post, but rather a widespread issue that has now been fixed.
He also said that he was ultimately accountable for Instagram’s stability, and is ‘very sorry’.
