As a precautionary measure against the spread of potential fires, the Indian Railways has decided to ban charging of electronic devices during travel at night.
According to reports, all charging stations will be switched off between 11 pm and 5 am. The Western Railways has already implemented the move.
There have been several incidents of fire due to over-charging on board long-duration trains.
The railways has also announced a number of initiatives against smoking and carrying inflammable items, which could also pose a risk.
