India witnessed a further fall in its daily Covid count, amid the third wave of infections driven by the Omicron variant.
On January 29, the country reported over 2 lakh 35 thousand new cases, recorded in a span of 24 hours. A day earlier, this figure stood at 2.51 lakh.

871 deaths were recorded in a day, as per reports. Meanwhile, over 3.35 lakh patients recovered in a day, taking the total recoveries to 3 crore, 83 lakh.
The daily positivity rate also witnessed a decline. Positivity rate refers to the proportion of positive results compared to the total number of tests conducted. On January 29, the daily positivity rate stood at 13.39%, down from 15.88% a day earlier.
The weekly positivity rate also fell, from 17.47% to 16.89%.
The total number of active cases in the country declined to 20.04 lakh. Meanwhile, the total number of vaccinations reached the 165.04 crore-mark.
